VP Cheney

Dick Cheney got a nice intro from Lynne

I love the way Cheney delivers a speech, but after Zell bringing down the house, Cheney speech is coming off low key tonight.

He hasn't started on Kerry yet.

About Saddam Hussein: "Seventeen months ago he controlled the lives and fortunes of 25,000,000 people; tonight he sits in jail"

Sort of a little history lesson right now.

I think he is just warming up.

"The black market network that supplied nuclear weapons to Iraq, Iran and North Korea has been shut down."

And so it is time to set the alternatives squarely before the American people:

We honor Kerry for his service in Viet Nam
but there is also a record of almost three decades since. The differences between Kerry and President Bush are the sharpest and the stakes are the highest.

time and again Kerry has made the wrong call on national security. he began his political career saying that he wanted the deployment of American troops by the UN

even in this post 9/11 period, Senator Kerry doesn't seem to understand how the world has changed. He speaks of a 'sensitive war' as though al Queda would be impressed with our 'softer side'...

we are faced with an enemy that seeks to use the deadliest of weapons against us and we cannot wait for another attack...we must use military force

The President has pointed out, there is a difference between leading a coalition of many nations and submitting to the objections of a few. George W. Bush will never apply for a permission slip to defend the American people.

a senator can be wrong for 20 years in the Senate, but the President always casts the deciding vote. In these times, we need a president we can count on to get it right.

on Iraq, Senator Kerry disagrees with many, but his liveliest disagreement is with himself.

Kerry says he sees two Americas; it makes the whole thing mutual; America sees two John Kerrys

It was a nice speech, but I think anyone would have a difficult time following the "stand-on-your-seat-and-clap-yell-and-shout" speech that Zell Miller gave tonight.
