Dems are waiting for the Rapture...

and the meltdown continues...according to this article in the Washington Post, even George Soros is getting into the act - hitting the road trying to bolster the candidate he already has covered with money.

Frustrated with the embers that never ignited, liberals are waiting for Kerry's campaign to catch fire. Some quarters are even looking longingly at Howard Dean and wondering where they went wrong.

This from the article linked above: For CEOs who dug deep this time, the contender bears not just their fragile hopes but their robust checks. Electability was supposed to be Kerry's thing. That's why they ran from their kids' loony choice, Howard Dean, who this week on the "Today" show suddenly sounded so sane and smart. While Dean's antiwar position now looks as prescient as Richard Clarke before 9/11, Kerry has morphed into Dukakis on stilts.

They just don't get it. Using words like "electable" and "brilliant" they ran to Kerry when they realized that Dean's antiwar rhetoric wouldn't carry them to where they needed to go. But they didn't do their homework on Kerry and underestimated the weight of Kerry's baggage.

For all their derisive comments about President Bush: how Bush can't carry a candle to Kerry when delivering a speech; how Bush sometimes stumbles over his words; how Bush looks like he is swaggering - all of that strikes a note within us, for we realize that while Bush might not be a perfect deliverer of speeches, he speaks from the heart. Never waivers. Isn't bothered by polls when considering how he is going to work to protect this country.

That is what they can't understand. And that is what is going to carry Bush to re-election.
