Heinz Kerry A New Nannygate?

Teresa Heinz (Kerry - she omitted this part on the return) released the first two pages of her tax return. The New York Times ran this article on it. I don't agree with some of their observations, such as One line in the Form 1040 that was released indicated she had a job for which $2,230 in taxes were withheld from her paycheck, but gave no details. The withheld taxes are probably from her investment income.

BUT

The interesting part I discovered resides on lines 55 and 59. Household employment taxes.

Remember Linda Chavez? And something called "Nannygate?"

Lines 55 and 59 on Form 1040 are Social Security and Medicare taxes paid to Household employees, ie: nannies; housekeepers; gardners; etc.

By my calculation, what Heinz-Kerry is claiming on her tax return for Household 'wages' extrapolates to approximately $7,500 - $8,000/year.

$8,000 a year paid to household staff from a billionaire??

What is going on here? If, THK did indeed pay someone $8k/year for taking care of her 'household' - does that pass the minimum wage test???

Minimum wage? HA! That would factor out to about $3.92/hour!!!!!

And, if THK is not the only source of income for these employees - who's paying them? Surely not her non-profit or 527 buddies?

I am only speaking to the very limited information we have access to regarding THK's tax returns, but this is something that deserves careful scrutiny.
