The New York Post is reporting "CARTER ODD MAN OUT ON TRIP "...but NBC Today Show host Katie Couric along with Andrea Mitchell tore into President Bush and Condi Rice over the 'snub'.
Not content to snipe at W, Today also managed to get in a shot at Condi. Asked Katie "under the circumstances, wouldn't the right thing have been for Condi Rice to step aside and give Carter her place?"
Mitchell acknowledged that, after all, the Vatican is a state, and as the chief diplomatic official it was logical for Condi to attend. Nevertheless, Andrea opined that Rice should have ceded her seat to Mr. Peanut...
Give me a break! Jimmy Carter is a former president, but he is also...a self-appointed 'good will ambassador'...that is critical of the U.S....that cast doubts on our electoral process...that has broken ranks and has been a very vocal critic of our president...why should he be given special consideration?
The Vatican has limited the entourage to five people, not President Bush...the two most recent former presidents are going...this isn't a circus...and I doubt if there will be peanuts, Jimmah...
