Reading his words struck a chord with me....we always - I always - wonder what the "rest of the story" is when I hear a liberal shrieking "The Iraqi's want us OUT OF IRAQ!"...
Our very own fellow countrymen calling us "occupiers"..."invaders"...
In his own words, Mohammed corrects that notion...in fact...he re-states VERY CLEARLY what the President, the Vice President, and many others have been saying all along...
We all know why some insist that US must leave or keep calling the presence of these troops an occupation. The problem is that the ordinary citizen here cannot talk about this in public for fear of being labeled as an agent or collaborator with the occupation and what can an unarmed citizen do to face such an accusation coming from this or that militia.
What pushes these politicians and militias to take this attitude is their dream of regaining sovereignty but not national sovereignty; it is their sovereignty over Iraq.
What is keeping these liars from making a large scale coup over the democratic change is the presence of coalition troops that are protecting the new Iraq.
Our newfound democracy is suffering a lot from the evil of neighboring dictatorships and the legacy of Saddam's dictatorship and I see the only guarantee to the growth of our democracy until its institutions are firm enough and well established lies in the presence of coalition troops for a longer time. This requires not only the preparation of Iraqi security forces but goes beyond that to protecting the democracy until it passes the danger zone...

Those that are clever enough to play into the left's Achilles Heel do not have good intentions for the citizens of Iraq...they are simply biding their time, hoping against hope that the Left in this country will scream and wail long and loud enough to get their way about pulling troops out of Iraq in some sort of appeasement effort...
If - by some horrible turn of events - IF the Left is successful in getting their way over this anti-war effort...the blood of each and every innocent, democracy-and-freedom-loving Iraqi will be on their hands...and on ours...
The annihilation, torture, murder, and butchery that Saddam Hussein put on the Iraqi people after the first Gulf War will turn out to only have been a dress rehearsal for what will follow with our abandonment of these people...
If we leave before the job is finished...the trust...the word...of the United States of America will be deemed worthless...and rightfully so...

...In North Carolina, ...fake passports, social security cards and marriage licenses found by the hundreds...Officers believe the men made and sold the fake ID'S to people who used them to get valid driver's licenses....
oh ya...now THERE'S A GOOD IDEA...
My own governor is a proponent of giving illegals Arizona drivers licenses...a slap in the face to the thousands upon thousands that came here LEGALLY!
In Pennsylvania, Federal officials say the arrest of 125 workers at a construction site for a new Wal-Mart distribution center should serve as a warning to employers who hire illegal immigrants...
In Montana, Six illegal aliens were arrested here Friday, along with the Great Falls man accused of harboring them, police said....
In North Dakota, Police say 34 illegal aliens have been arrested in Bismarck in the past month.
And, sorry, no sympathy from this quarter for the following items:

NewsMax reports: Former president Bill Clinton praised Saddam Hussein's lieutenants and their underlings on Tuesday, saying they were mostly "good" and "decent" people."
"When [the U.S.] kicked out Saddam, they decided to dismantle the whole authority structure," Clinton told an audience at American University in Dubai. "Most of the people who were part of that structure were good, decent people who were making the best out of a very bad situation," he added.
While Clinton didn't name, names, Saddam's authority structure was dominated by his two murderous sons, Uday and Qusay, as well as notorious characters like Ali Hassan al-Majid, [aka Chemical Ali], Barzan al-Takriti, who ran the Iraq's brutal intelligence service, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, who governed northern Iraq during chemical weapon attacks in the Kurds, and Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash [aka Mrs. Anthrax], who was a member of Saddam's Baathist National Command.

CAUTION: Price Caps Is Only a TEMPORARY Solution...
...what really needs to happen is finding a long-term solution to our oil sources and prices...
And there are many options that need to be considered...but I caution anyone that thinks that putting permanent price caps in place is the only solution...
If you are in doubt, one only needs to look at the energy crisis that was created in California when price caps were instituted...
Yes, the consumers fared better...FOR A WHILE...
When you have price caps in place eventually you will find government subsidizing necessary if the companies are going to remain operational...which is exactly what happened in California:
As a result of the 1996 restructuring, the privately owned (non-municipal) utilities were subject to provisions that made it uneconomical for them to enter into long-term contracts. Public Utilities Commission rules created strong incentives for them to buy electricity only from the state-run Power Exchange on the short term, making the utilities subject to spikes in wholesale markets. On the Power Exchange, the longest term market for purchase was one day in advance; the short term was 10 minutes in advance....
“So there was no long-term protection for the investor-owned utilities..(snip)...If you are selling to retail customers who don’t want price fluctuations, the way to operate is through long-term contracts to have that security.”
The situation resulted in the draining of all financial assets of the investor-owned utilities, the bankruptcy of Pacific Gas & Electric, and the near-bankruptcy of Southern California Edison.
And there is another wrinkle when considering what is happening to our gas prices....the competition is getting smaller and smaller...
What do I mean?
Well, think about it...companies are merging...companies are being bought out...which leaves fewer companies competing against each other...which eventually leads - or COULD LEAD - to higher prices...
Is that what is happening right now? Who knows for sure?
Are the gas companies raising prices in line with what they are paying for the crude oil?
A lot to consider...hopefully our legislators won't move to put price caps in place...at least not permanent ones...with the speed that they raced to the cameras after Exxon announced a profit...
Obviously companies are in business to make money for not only themselves but their investors as well...
Let's slow down and take a good look at what really is going on before making a knee-jerk decision that will give good face time on the news channels...
It might buy you votes today...but it also might create a worse crisis in the future...

...but NOW...Now that she hasn't performed...Now that she hasn't crucified Bush...NOW that she has NOT turned out to be the smoking gun...well...

Here in Arizona we don't take kindly to identity thieves...
So, Sheriff Joe Arpaio is going the extra mile...
Get stopped for criminal driving behavior and get your fingerprints taken...No IF's, AND's or BUT's...IT'S THE LAW...
This is a modified version of a program that is already in place...but THAT ONE was voluntary...

The US House of Representatives voted 306-120 on Oct. 19 passing a bill that shields fast-food chains from lawsuits that claim their foods cause obesity.
The bill titled Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act of 2005 (nicknamed "cheeseburger bill") was sponsored by Rep. Ric Keller from Florida and 85 other representatives.
The cheeseburger bill stems from lawsuits accusing McDonald's of causing obesity in tens of thousands of children, according to the Associated Press (AP). The fast food industry asked Congress and state legislatures to protect them from lawsuits blaming their food for obesity. 21 states have already agreed.
The proponents for the bill say consumers can't blame the food service industry for weight gain. The AP quoted Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. as saying, "you cannot litigate personal choices and lifestyles."
Critics complain that the bill does not encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and instead pleases the food industry....
Okay! Stop the presses!

Katrina Refugees Evacuees Binge on Cape: Spend Fed Csh on Booze, Strippers...Some Say They Are Abusing Taxpayers...
Gov. Mitt Romney yesterday acknowledged that alcohol abuse has been a problem among Hurricane Katrina evacuees since their arrival on Cape Cod last month, but said there was little the state could do to stop the refugees from spending their federal money on booze.
"It was quite obvious in the first day or two that we might have an issue with alcohol,'' Romney said, responding to a Herald report that some of the 235 evacuees used their $2,000 federal relief handouts to binge on liquor in public....
The debit card system adopted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross assumes that most people will act – and spend – responsibly, especially in the wake of a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. Herald reporters Maggie Mulvihill and David Wedge have discovered otherwise.
Some of the Katrina evacuees housed at Camp Edwards on the Cape have used those stipends to buy liquor and to fund visits to a local strip club. And because booze was banned on the base itself, sometimes the good times were rolling at a Falmouth strip mall, where public drinking turned into a police matter...
This is really a sad situation...
...it reminds me of what my grandma used to say: One bad apple can spoil the entire barrel...

So taxpayers are well within their rights to feel ``taken'' by the tiny minority of evacuees who abused not only the system but our hospitality. Victims of future disasters may have to pay for that abuse with new restrictions on government generosity.

Yes...future refugees will be paying the price for this one for a long, long time to come...

The Tide Is Turning: Iraqi Recruits Prepare to Fight al Zarqawi's Followers
Special operations personnel from both the U.S. Navy and Army finished several weeks of training for the Iraqi Army's newest soldiers just outside Camp Fallujah Oct. 6.
The new Soldiers learned individual and squad movements, reaction to enemy fire and other necessary skills they will use as they join their units.
All the graduates from this course are from the same tribe in western Al Anbar Province near Al Qaim along the Syrian border. The men joined to fight the terrorists who have brought violence to their homes, villages and cities of western Iraq.
"The families and people of Iraq need to be rid of the terrorists. Iraq will only be better if we get more people to join and fight," said Pvt. Abdel.
"I'm going to fight al Zarqawi's followers," Pvt. Ghedha proudly proclaimed one day during a break at the rifle marksmanship range.
"We're going to take everything we learn here and go back and fight the terrorists."
And here is the key phrase:
"Iraq needs us to fight," he continued. "This is our country and we need to fight to keep it safe."
Finally...finally...the roots are taking hold...the Iraqi people - after being beaten down and held down for so long by that murderous Saddam Hussein...

You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature...

Clinton recently told his former staffer-turned TV commentator George Stephanopoulos that the U.S. government had "no evidence that there were any weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq.
But a recent report in the The Weekly Standard headlined "Clinton Revisionism" unmasks Clinton's flip-flops over the Iraq weapons of mass destruction issue.
For example, during an appearance on "Larry King Live" back in July 2003, the former president said:
"When I left office, there was a substantial amount of biological and chemical material unaccounted for."
In October of that year, six months after the war ended, Clinton discussed Iraq with Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Manuel Durao Barroso.
Barroso said: "When Clinton was here recently he told me he was absolutely convinced, given his years in the White House and the access to privileged information which he had, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction until the end of the Saddam regime."
Last month Clinton discussed the Iraq war with Wolf Blitzer and told him: "I never thought it had much to do with the war on terror."
But in a February 1998 speech warning of an "unholy axis" of terrorists and rogue states, Clinton stated: "There is no more clear example of this threat than Saddam Hussein's Iraq."
That summer six senior Clinton officials accused Iraq of providing chemical weapons expertise to al-Qaida in Sudan.
The Clinton administration cited this link to justify the destruction of a pharmaceutical plant in Sudan supposedly involved in the production of chemical weapons.

Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. (my emphasis)

US officials say a letter has been intercepted which appears to be from al-Qaeda number two Ayman al-Zawahiri to the terror network's leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters the letter warned that the tactics used by the insurgents could alienate the wider Muslim population and that al-Qaeda faced defeat in Afghanistan. "
Zawahiri says that they've lost many of their key leaders... and that their lines of communication and funding have been severely disrupted," he said.
Al-Zawahiri also warns in the letter that activities such as killing hostages and bombing mosques risk alienating the "Muslim masses", who he says must be involved in the eventual governance of Iraq, Whitman told reporters.
The Pentagon spokesman did not give any details of how or where the letter was found, but he said they considered it authentic. The New York Times however, quoted one official as saying the 6,000 word long letter - which is said to have been written in Arabic - was dated early July and was discovered during operations carried out by US troops in Iraq.
Al-Zawahiri - an Egyptian-born doctor - is number two after bin Laden in the US government's 22 Most Wanted Terrorists list, issued in 2001, and has a 25 million dollar bounty on his head. The last reported sighting of him was in the eastern Afghan town of Khost in October 2001....

U.S. Marshals to Become Part of Search & Rescue Teams?....HOPEFULLY
The Phoenix Fire Department officially informed the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Thursday that it will continue to include armed police as part of its Urban Search and Rescue team and asked the agency to rethink its no-firearms rule.
The federal agency appears "more than willing to talk about it and look at that as an option," Phoenix Assistant Fire Chief Bob Khan said."
The discussion, at least as we see it, has been heading in a positive direction," Khan said. "Our intent is still to deploy with the U.S. marshals as a security detail. We hope we can come to some kind of agreement on that."
In a letter to FEMA, Phoenix Fire Chief Alan Brunacini wrote that integrating U.S. marshals into Phoenix's team was a "model for future deployments," and Phoenix officials said it should become the national standard."
The integration of U.S. Marshals into the Urban Search and Rescue program for force protection must be addressed quickly," he wrote.
Brunacini also said, "We sincerely believe an integrated force protection program will improve the USAR deployment model."
Let's hope this can be resolved quickly...
Rescuers should NOT have to worry about their backs as they are doing their humanitarian work...
If there is a danger of ANYONE shooting at them...as we saw during the Katrina rescue operation...U.S. armed marshals are the ones that SHOULD be watching the backs of those otherwise occupied with saving the lives of victims...plain..and..simple...

I - like many of you - have recently noticed a real slow down on the internet...some sites are actually unavailable to me...and now I read that it possibly is linked to a battle between Level 3 and Cogent??

I am NOT one for more or bigger government, but this has to be stopped...and it has to be stopped NOW!
A similar situation existed almost 4 years ago when Excite@Home terminated service to 850,000 cable-modem subscribers and there apparently were discussions then about regulation to avoid another "blackout"...unfortunately at this point I have not been able to do much research on what has taken place since then...but, you can bet that I will...and I will follow up here with what I discover...
This is ridiculous...
The internet plays a HUGE role in all of our lives...our businesses...our livelihoods...and for something as stupid...yes, stupid...as a feud to play such an important role on accessibility...or, to be more exact...the LACK of accessibility...

FEMA Kicks Out Phoenix Rescue Team

The Phoenix Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue team HAS BEEN SUSPENDED by a federal agency because it brought armed police officers for protection on hurricane relief missions.

Let me give you a little extra information: Mayor Phil Gordon was just on the radio stating that the Search & Rescue team has been suspended INDEFINITELY over this b*#lsh*t!
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's conduct code prohibits urban search-and-rescue teams from having guns.Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon called the reaction from FEMA "stunning, unbelievable, bewildering and outrageous."
Phoenix's team included four police officers who were deputized as U.S. marshals when they participated in relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
The team was credited with plucking more than 400 Katrina survivors from rooftops and freeway overpasses in flooded sections of New Orleans.
Phoenix officials are threatening to refuse deployments in the future or possibly pull out of the federal agency altogether unless the rules are changed to allow teams to bring their own security, even if that means police with guns.
Phoenix police were added to the team about a year ago, and officials say they are essential to protecting firefighters and FEMA's $1.4 million worth of equipment.
According to the mayor, FEMA officials advised the team to bring U.S. marshals along on the initial trip.
After Hurricane Katrina struck, firefighters faced deployment to areas plagued by looting and lawlessness. Twice, Phoenix's team was confronted by law enforcement officers who refused to let them pass through their communities and told them to "get out or get shot," Gordon said.
Officials told the Phoenix team on Sept. 26 that their help was no longer needed after members of the group were seen embarking on a helicopter flight with a loaded shotgun while helping with the aftermath of Rita.
So, what are these guys supposed to do? Paint a target on their backs?
We all heard about the shooting that was done at rescue helicopters...the shooting at rescuers...so if we give up our time and leave our families to go assist with the rescue effort, we are supposed to go unprotected??
The rescuers didn't have arms...they took U.S. Marshals with them for protection!

Bin Laden Sought Refuge in Britain...
In an amazing story, it has been reported that bin Laden sought asylum in Britain as he was planning the attack on our soil:
He claims to hate everything the West stands for. But on Wednesday it emerged that Osama bin Laden sought asylum in Britain even as he was planning the September 11 attacks on the US.
The Al Qaeda leader wanted to abandon his base in Sudan at the end of 1995 and asked some of his followers in London to sound out whether he would be able to move to Britain.
Michael Howard, who was then Home Secretary, recalls how his aides told him of the asylum request from the Saudi-born militant who the world knew little of ten years ago.
A number of his brothers and other relatives, all members of the wealthy bin Laden construction empire, owned properties in London by the mid-1990s.
The teenage bin Laden had reportedly toured Europe with his family and became an Arsenal fan, though there is no record of his ever having been to a match at Highbury.
The astonishing approach to the British authorities happened only months after bin Laden had secretly organised a terror summit in Manila in January 1995 to begin planning how hijackers would turn passenger planes into flying bombs. He called it the "Bojinka plot", which is Arabic slang for an explosion.
By this time bin Laden had also transferred some of his considerable personal fortune to London for his followers to establish terror cells here and across Europe.
His name rarely appeared in the British media even though by late 1995 his network had already bombed a number of US Army bases abroad and plotted assassination attempts against Pope John Paul II and President Clinton. Howard said yesterday: "In truth, I knew little about him, but we picked up information that bin Laden was very interested in coming to Britain". It was apparently a serious request.
"He already had people operating here, and who knows how history could have been rewritten if he had turned up here?"
Bin Laden never got a chance to make a formal application as Home Office officials investigated him and Mr Howard issued an immediate banning order under Britain's immigration laws.
