The purpose of the United States military is to defend the United States and it's interests.
While it is a tragedy that the people in Syria were gassed, why is that a reason for the United States - when Great Britain and other countries have declined - to go and bomb??
WHAT U.S. interests are we protecting by doing this??
Why not work with our allies and build stronger coalitions in that region?
If Assad is unseated there is a VERY GOOD possibility that the chemical weapons that were used will fall into the hands of al qaeda...

August 28, 2013, is the fiftieth anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. It is a very good speech. But it is not my favorite Martin Luther King, Jr. speech. My favorite is little known and even less remembered. It is a speech no leader in America on a stage such as he commanded would ever think to give. It is a speech about individuals being the best they can be as the beginning of their way in life and finding God as the end.
King’s “Street Sweeper” speech, which is more properly called “The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life” was a variation of a theme he went back and forth to over the years. He gave this particular speech to New Covenant Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, on April 9, 1967.
It’s common title of “The Street Sweeper” speech comes from this passage:

So the record -- the President’s record on these issues -- he has a bias in favor of historically black colleges and universities because of the service they provide and because of the quality education that they provide to their students.

THREE "BORED" BLACK TEENS MURDER WHITE JOGGER - AUSSIES FOCUS ON GUN CONTROL
In a tragic event, three black teens shot Christopher Lane, an Australian going to college in Oklahoma, in the back as he jogged:
Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said he had secured the confession of the 17-year-old who summoned investigators to his jail cell and claimed he and the younger boys were bored "so they decided to kill somebody".
"he said he was the driver of the car," Chief Ford said.
"They saw Christopher jog by the house they were at, they chose him to be the target, they got in the car, drove up behind him and shot him in the back.
"He said the 16-year-old fired the shot."
The remarkable thing about the article in the Herald Sun is that the focus is on lack of gun control in America and not the fact that this is a black on white crime, something the media refuses to even admit exists.
Mr Fischer, who led Australia's gun control reforms alongside former prime minister John Howard in 1996, said choosing not to travel to the US would help build pressure on the US Congress to finally act.
"Tourists thinking of going to the USA should think twice," Mr Fischer said.
"This is the bitter harvest and legacy of the policies of the NRA that even blocked background checks for people buying guns at gunshows.
"People should take this into account before going to the United States.
"I am deeply angry about this because of the callous attitude of the three teenagers (but) it's a sign of the proliferation of guns on the ground in the USA.
"There is a gun for almost every American."
SHAME ON MR. FISCHER FOR TAKING THIS TRAGIC LOSS AND TURNING IT INTO HIS PLATFORM TO FURTHER HIS AGENDA!

NO amount of gun control would have prevented this. Gun control laws are followed by law abiding citizens. Criminals will obtain guns as they always do...through illegal channels...stealing them and by whatever other means they can without registering them...
If these "bored" black teens didn't have a gun, they would have use whatever else they could find to carry out the crime - tire jack, hammer, knives...guns don't kill people, criminals do.

-Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities.
-Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.
There is no reference to Medicaid being the determinant for a family to be “eligible.”
In 2011, the HHS announced $224 million will be given to support evidence-based home visiting programs to “help parents and children.” Individuals from the state will implement these leveraging strategies to “enhance program sustainability.”
Constitutional attorney and author Kent Masterson Brown states,
“This is not a “voluntary” program. The eligible entity receiving the grant for performing the home visits is to identify the individuals to be visited and intervene so as to meet the improvement benchmarks. A homeschooling family, for instance, may be subject to “intervention” in “school readiness” and “social-emotional developmental indicators.” A farm family may be subject to “intervention” in order to “prevent child injuries.” The sky is the limit.
Although the Obama administration would claim the provision applies only to Medicaid families, the new statute, by its own definition, has no such limitation. Intervention may be with any family for any reason. It may also result in the child or children being required to go to certain schools or taking certain medications and vaccines and even having more limited – or no – interaction with parents. The federal government will now set the standards for raising children and will enforce them by home visits.”
Part of the program will require massive data collecting of private information including all sources of income and the amount gathered from each source.
A manual called Child Neglect: A Guide for Prevention, Assessment, and Intervention includes firearms as potential safety hazard and will require inspectors to verify safety compliance and record each inspection into a database.
Last session South Carolina Rep. Bill Chumley introduced a bill, H.3101 that would nullify certain provisions of Obamacare. The bill would give the state attorney general the authority to authorize law enforcement to arrest federal agents for trespassing. It would make forced home inspections under Obamacare illegal in South Carolina. It passed in the House but died in the senate.

It bears repeating: some in the Dream 9 are claiming that they fear persecution in Mexico because they spent time in the United States as illegal aliens. They are prepared to argue that illegal aliens are are a particular social group that is due asylum consideration for having been illegal aliens.

NO WARRANT: NSA HAS SECRET BACKDOOR PERMISSION TO SEARCH DATABASES FOR AMERICAN'S COMMUNICATIONS
Once again from the U.K. Guardian:
The National Security Agency has a secret backdoor into its vast databases under a legal authority enabling it to search for US citizens'email and phone calls without a warrant, according to a top-secret document passed to the Guardian by Edward Snowden.
The previously undisclosed rule change allows NSA operatives to hunt for individual Americans' communications using their name or other identifying information. Senator Ron Wyden told the Guardian that the law provides the NSA with a loophole potentially allowing "warrantless searches for the phone calls or emails of law-abiding Americans".
The authority, approved in 2011, appears to contrast with repeated assurances from Barack Obama and senior intelligence officials to both Congress and the American public that the privacy of US citizens is protected from the NSA's dragnet surveillance programs.
The intelligence data is being gathered under Section 702 of the of theFisa Amendments Act (FAA), which gives the NSA authority to target without warrant the communications of foreign targets, who must be non-US citizens and outside the US at the point of collection.
The communications of Americans in direct contact with foreign targets can also be collected without a warrant, and the intelligence agencies acknowledge that purely domestic communications can also be inadvertently swept into its databases. That process is known as "incidental collection" in surveillance parlance.
But this is the first evidence that the NSA has permission to search those databases for specific US individuals' communications....
"Once Americans' communications are collected, a gap in the law that I call the 'back-door searches loophole' allows the government to potentially go through these communications and conduct warrantless searches for the phone calls or emails of law-abiding Americans."
Wyden, along with his intelligence committee colleague Mark Udall, have attempted repeatedly to warn publicly about the ability of the intelligence community to look at the communications of US citizens, but are limited by their obligation not to reveal highly classified information.
But in a letter they recently wrote to the NSA director, General Keith Alexander, the two senators warned that a fact sheet released by the NSA in the wake of the initial Prism revelations to reassure the American public about domestic surveillance was misleading...
Secret minimization procedures dating from 2009, published in June by the Guardian, revealed that the NSA could make use of any "inadvertently acquired" information on US persons under a defined range of circumstances, including if they held usable intelligence, information on criminal activity, threat of harm to people or property, are encrypted or are believed to contain any information relevant to cybersecurity....
Assurances from Obama and senior administration officials to the American public about the privacy of their communications have relied on the strict definition of what constitutes "targeting" while making no mention of the permission to search for US data within material that has already been collected.

"After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations," the company's founder, Ladar Levinson, wrote in a statement to users posted on the front page of its website. He said the US directive forced on his company "a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit." HOW THE DEA KEEPS ITS SECRETS SECRET...

A secretive unit to the Drug Enforcement
Administration is training its agents to cover up how it gets information used
to launch investigations of Americans.
The technique for concealing the information is
called Parallel Construction. Here's how it sometimes works.
A drug dealer wants to move narcotics, weapons or
cash in the United States. An informant or perhaps an undercover agent learns the
plans and alerts the secretive DEA unit called the Special Operations Division (SOD).
The intelligence could also come from an NSA
wiretap or electronic intercept. The Special Operations Division tells local or
state police that they need to stop a certain truck at a certain place and
time. Local police do that in a way that looks like a routine traffic stop.
But a drug sniffing dog is brought to the scene.
If police find drugs they arrest the driver. If the case goes to trial cops
know they can never say where the intel came from. They're under direct orders
to not disclose it.
Instead they might say the investigation began
with a routine traffic stop, a plausible story that creates a new investigative
trail that won't lead back to the secret source.
That’s the Parallel Construction.
What concerns some former prosecutors and judges
is that by hiding the origin of the investigation that the DEA could be hiding
evidence from the people arrested. This might jeopardize their constitutional
right to a fair trial.
