Maxine Waters Dedicates Objection to Michael Moore

I just heard it on KFYI's Barry Young show and had to research it for myself:

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that during yesterday's attempt to delay or even block the certifying of the Electoral College vote by congressional Democrats that

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles, went so far as to thank the moviemaker on the floor of the House on Thursday, saying: "I dedicate my objection to Michael Moore."

Uh, yea, this is the same Maxine Waters that is facing charges that Waters' family members earned more than $1 million over the last eight years by doing business with companies, candidates and causes that she helped.

The Chronicle also noted: No moment better captured the acrimony on Capitol Hill than Sen. Barbara Boxer's challenge to President Bush's election.

The antics in the chambers of Congress on Thursday more resembled the San Francisco Board of the Supervisors than the world's most deliberative body.

There was no expectation -- even among the most venal Bush haters -- that the objection launched by Boxer and Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio might alter the outcome of the election or impede Bush's inauguration.

So what was the point?
